Urgent Medical Access
We are working to expand dialysis access in northern Uganda by adding critical medical equipment before the wet season increases demand.
-
Thanks to the support of people who recognize the urgency of this situation, we are currently 56% of the way toward our goal of purchasing two dialysis machines to serve communities in northern Uganda.
The need is immediate. In a recent conversation, Dr. Dan Oriba shared that the region’s single available dialysis machine is being operated continuously—up to 40 hours at a time—to treat patients suffering from acute kidney injury. At the same time, one of our local team members has been hospitalized for over a week with severe malaria and related complications. His condition is being closely monitored.
Malaria is a year-round challenge in the region, but conditions worsen significantly during the wet season, which typically begins in March or April. Increased illness during this period places even greater strain on already limited medical resources.
We have identified a reliable supplier in Uganda that can provide both the dialysis machines and necessary supplies. If we are able to reach our $20,000 fundraising goal before the wet season, we can have two machines installed and operational, significantly increasing treatment capacity and saving lives.
We invite you to help us reach this goal. Every contribution moves us closer to expanding critical medical access in the region.
Our nonprofit partner, Kuugaq, manages this initiative as part of its broader mission to improve health and wellness through clean water, sanitation, and essential infrastructure. Donations are tax-deductible, and contributors may designate their gift for the dialysis machine project by noting “Dr. Dan – Dialysis Machines.”
We are $9,000 away from out 100% match goal of $20,000. Help us by donating below!
